PLEIN AIR

Color of the Sun - (Plein air) 10" x 8", Oil on panel
From the May 2007 Waxahachie paintout. Had a bunch of much-needed rain so we painted under awnings on the town square to stay dry. When the sun came out, it looked all the brighter hitting this parked Mini Cooper in a used car lot. This piece won first place in the event's judging competition.

Recycled - (Plein air) 8" x 6", Oil on panel
From the May 2007 Waxahachie paintout. New use for an old Model A - an eye-catching ad in front of an automotive shop.

Duck Creek Bend - (Plein air) 8" x 6", Oil on panel
A creek edging a park near downtown Garland, TX. Characteristic of the area, this creek

cuts deep indo the white bedrock below the blackland prairie - a quieter place to retreat

from the commotion of ball fields and playgrounds in the park above.

Whiterock Creek - (Plein air) 7" x 5", Oil on panel

Whiterock Bank - (Plein air) 5" x 3", Oil on panel

On Main Street sold - (Plein air) 8" x 6", Oil on panel

From the Waxahachie paintout, May 2007. One of the beautiful historic homes on tour. Cottage-looking from streetside, this house extended deep into the lot

    with landscaped patio and backyard.

These works are painted almost entirely on site (I usually leave a few finishing touches and signature for the studio). One of the pleasures of painting is observing and recording. I like to be faithful to the subject matter to give a true sense of time and place as well as manipulate to create a visually interesting piece.
